My fix with Yellow

The use of colour yellow in "Stamping Ground" (a work in progress) conveys literally a  coming down to earth

I took these pictures around my yard recently showing so many shades of yellow.

Then I just had to use yellow dye when I dyed this silk chiffon fabric

Even some drawings with yellow playing an important part

Back to my encaustic painting in progress & I can't help to use yellow tissue paper

Wearable Art what next

'Lotus Dress'  (green of course)
- my entry into ATASDA Qld Exhibition - October 2012

Firstly I cut out the green Hemp & Organic cotton fabric.

Then the fun starts in my studio sinks with dyeing the bottom of the panels.

Tie dye  with dark green Procion dye the bottom areas of the skirt pieces

Screen printed lotus flower from the photographic stencil done from my own drawn image. Used 3 colours mixing Algipaste & procion dyes.

With a candle I burnt the edges of different cut fabric circles & sewed together with a bead in the centre. Finally I sewed the dress together & attached the lilypad pieces to the bodice front. Amazingly I'm happy as it fits like a glove & leans on the "wearable" side of WEARABLE  ART

2012 year of the Black Water Dragon

It's interesting this Chinese sign Kung Hei Fat Choi only comes around every 60 years & many of you turn 60 this year like me. What makes the 2012 Dragon so special is a combination of the 12 zodiac animals and the five traditional colours —yellow, blue, red, white and black.

Furthermore, it is a yang year. Yang Water is like a flowing river rather than a stagnant lake. Things will move, ideas flow, creativity abound, economies boom, and love blossom in this environment.
Of the 12 signs of the Chinese zodiac, the dragon is the most special and is sometimes called a karmic sign associated with spring. Bigger than life is very much a dragon thing and in this context we can expect grand things to happen this year. There may be flames and failures, but there will also be spectacular achievements.
For those born in the Year of the Dragon, this year is the time to pursue and act on the impossible dream, change the world or at least your life.
And for the other signs, it is the best chance to make your dreams come true.

Visit my new website with some of my latest achievements.
