More creative fun

                  Another very succesful ATASDA workshop

Oh but has our 'Golden' girl forgot something ?

With some of the girls taking it all in before getting creative

Using Ink Jet printers to print on fabrics plus other surfaces was amazing

We were all so impressed with our results

Here's some of my pieces using digital grounds before printing

Photograph of my garden 'Hippy' printed on silk

& treated with Golden GAC 900 to make it washable

Printed image & paint on outdoor patterned fabric

Printed seagull image, a real feather was put on screen twice

Why use colour Yellow

We all know that it represents happiness and fun and after some research I found out that the traditional yellow colour meaning is that of inspiration. So yellow can stimulate new ideas, creativity and clear thinking.  Also mentally, emotionally and physically yellow can act as a tonic or pick me up. Yellow is connected with the Element of Air, the direction East, the zodiac signs of Libra and the Sun.
By choosing to use yellow, it shows that your mind is receptive to receiving knowledge and is positively alert to gaining new insights and skills. But beware, apparently however too much yellow can over stimulate the brain and lead to hyperactivity and anxiety. It is suggested to try and focus on what you feel is a priority at this time, as it may also indicate an overly loaded mind needing clarity and a logical stepped approach.
On reflection as a Libran, I now understand why there has been this strong impact of the colour yellow has had on my art, particularly this last year of the Black Water Dragon.

Watch for my next blog with yellow going into orange colours as well !

My fix with Yellow

The use of colour yellow in "Stamping Ground" (a work in progress) conveys literally a  coming down to earth

I took these pictures around my yard recently showing so many shades of yellow.

Then I just had to use yellow dye when I dyed this silk chiffon fabric

Even some drawings with yellow playing an important part

Back to my encaustic painting in progress & I can't help to use yellow tissue paper

Wearable Art what next

'Lotus Dress'  (green of course)
- my entry into ATASDA Qld Exhibition - October 2012

Firstly I cut out the green Hemp & Organic cotton fabric.

Then the fun starts in my studio sinks with dyeing the bottom of the panels.

Tie dye  with dark green Procion dye the bottom areas of the skirt pieces

Screen printed lotus flower from the photographic stencil done from my own drawn image. Used 3 colours mixing Algipaste & procion dyes.

With a candle I burnt the edges of different cut fabric circles & sewed together with a bead in the centre. Finally I sewed the dress together & attached the lilypad pieces to the bodice front. Amazingly I'm happy as it fits like a glove & leans on the "wearable" side of WEARABLE  ART
